A Day at Camp
What does a day at camp look like?
Please look through our timeline so you can get a feel for what a fantastic day at Camp looks like. Most of our programming during the day is through our Activity Tracks. Each camper chooses 4 activity tracks during their week at camp. Each track meets twice for 1.5 hours.
Activity Tracks
Campers will choose a total of 4 activity tracks. Wednesday is Arrowwood day at the River!
-
Adventure Recreation - Challenge Course
Low Ropes Challenges and High Challenge Course Activities - Campers who sign up for Adventure Recreation will spend one day conquering various low ropes course obstacles. On the second day, campers will have the opportunity to experience Arrowwood’s high ropes course. All activities are safely offered to campers in a “challenge by choice” context with group encouragement and affirmation, regardless of ability or participation.
-
Archery & Riflery
Archery and Riflery is a camp classic and a big “hit” at camp. Besides the fact that it’s covered, cool and shady in our new facility, campers love learning the basics of marksmanship and gaining confidence as they advance in their skills. Campers will learn how to safely operate a bow and arrow and a .22 single-shot rifle. Have you ever play tic tac toe with arrows? Try it out!
-
Big Time Sports
Team Sports Competitions - Started in 2018 for our campers who were missing their team sports from back home. Big Time sports places campers and staff on teams as they have fun and compete in sports such as water polo, frisbee, basketball, dodgeball etc.
-
Camp Jams
Ukulele, Djembes, Songs, Laughter and Fun! - Campers will all have the opportunity to learn how to play the ukelele and a few other favorite camp instruments. This class is sure to be a lot of fun and will teach campers a love for camp music!
-
Designs
Campers have a blast creating fun, campy, and unique crafts that are worth bringing home! Crafts from past summers include leatherwork, t-shirts, nail art, hiking sticks, rock art, tee-pees, clay baking, paracord, etc. It’s also the ONLY air-conditioned track at camp.
-
Energy Craze
Slip n Slide and Archery Tag - Our most popular track at camp, Energy craze spends one day on the slip n slide and the next activity period playing Archery Tag!
-
Fire Expedition
Fishing/Canoeing and Campfire Skills - Fire Expedition is the same as H20 Expedition the first day, but the second day brings some fun adventures with the woods, come visit our hammock village, learn some campfire skills and we will teach campers how to cook some treats over a campfire.
-
H2O Expedition
Fishing/Canoeing and GSMNP River - We split our popular Expedition Arrowwood track into two separate classes. While both still experience kayaking, fishing, and canoeing, the second class activity for H20 will take campers to the GSMNP’s Little River as they have fun learning and sometimes catching (and releasing) minnows, lizards, crawdads and crawfish. Sign up and experience why the GSMNP hosts over 11 million visitors a year.
-
Horseback
Want to ride a horse but never have before? No experience required! We’ll teach you what you need to know. Whether you’ve never ridden or currently take lessons, most campers experience something on horseback they’ve never experienced before. With our certified riding instructor staff, campers learn the basics of horsemanship so they can work as a team with their horse to do things like navigate an obstacle course, herd cows, play noodle tag, and other fun things.
-
Mountain Biking
Mountain Biking is our newest track that we introduced in 2023. We are offering mountain biking for campers who are already proficient in biking. We have 15 new bikes and new trails! Shoes are required and there is a height and age requirement. Campers will be taught basic mountain biking skills and will ride around Arrowwood trails!
-
Search and Rescue
Since 2019 - Escape Challenge and Laser Tag - We’ve worked hard and have created a fantastic Arrowwood escape challenge. Picture one part escape room and one part adventure hunt as campers seek to work together to solve a camp-wide mystery. On the second day, campers will be placed on teams as they compete in outdoor laser tag.
